Chronic Pain
Unlike other diseases , pain is invisible to everyone but the person who suffers. Even though doctors and modern medical science has the most sophisticated machines to diagnose disease, there is of yet no test, procedure or medical hardware device to show to the doctor or health care professional how much pain a person is feeling and suffering. This can be most frustrating . The reactions of friends and family can sometimes be even more upsetting. They may believe that the person is shirking responsibility and complaining for nothing. especially if she or he looks well and healthy. Pain can be a most lonely and baffling experience.
For some pain , such as the acute pain of a toothache or the pain from a medical or surgical operation or the pain resulting from an injury, pain relief is readily available. Chronic pain , on the other , is more difficult to treat. Chronic pain affects millions and millions of Americans. Yet , with the correct and right treatment, chronic pain can be reduced significantly , and is many cases relieved.
