Basics of Chronic Pain Relief
The basis of chronic pain relief is around the clock pain relief treatment . Its as simple as that. Constant pain requires constant pain relief. Simple as that.
To do otherwise with chronic pain is to pour gasoline on a fire. The fire flames up , then calms down , then fires up again once fed.
Regular treatment of chronic pain requires round the clock therapy, not as needed or PRN. Treatment of chronic pain usually and often involves combinations of medicines , adjunct additional medics and therapy. Medications used included pain relievers, antidepressants and anti convulsants. Often drugs have more than one use , so do not become confused or concerned about the issue. A friend or relative may have received a "crazy" pill , and yet your doctor prescribes the same drug for you for pain. This is a correct and additional use of the drug. Sometimes your doctor will place you on more than one type of drug or medication. It does not necessarily mean that your pain is getting worse , or that you are getting to the end of the road. Sometimes a second drug will be added to work along with the first one. The two will work together ( co analgesic). Perhaps it is better to add in the second drug , than increase the dose of the first one or sometimes its a case of avoiding side effects that can occur with higher doses of medication number one.
Newer drugs are coming on the market all the time. Some are older proven medications that are placed in a new form - long acting tablets that last 12 hours a day , rather than 4 hours are an example. Newer medications as well , entirely new., are coming on the market on a regular basis. Often its a case of trial and error with new medications. Your doctor may prescribe it carefully. It may not help out one patient of the doctors and yet the next one receives unbelievable benefits. Its basically controlled trial and error.
